RED VELVET CAKES
RECIPE
Ingredients:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder. Mix well.
- Add the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into two 9-inch cake pans that have been greased and floured.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.
Cream Cheese Frosting
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until smooth.
- Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy.
- Use the frosting to frost the cooled cake layers. Enjoy!
